Railroad crossing work at SW 1st St. in Newberg is scheduled to begin Saturday, July 12 at 4 a.m., and will continue into the night. There will be two lanes open (one lane in each direction) with flaggers controlling traffic.
Workers will install a rubber flange at the railroad crossing and paving to match grades. These efforts are a part of the OR 99W pavement preservation project between OR 240 (Main Street in Newberg) and OR 18 (McDougal Junction).
The OR99W Paving Project includes replacing the old pavement and guardrails, constructing updated ADA ramps and sidewalks in Newberg, and updating signage to improve overall safety and driving conditions. Most of the seven miles of paving will be done between May and September of this year, with completion in 2015.
