Briar Rose Creamery offers a wine-and-cheese experience of distinction.
Closely surrounded by top-level wineries, Briar Rose Creamery’s inspiration seems as distinct as the vineyard breeze. Wine and cheese are almost a single phrase, and a tangy goat cheese complements a variety of vintages.
In the case of Briar Rose, though, there are a dozen tangy goat cheeses, each flavored and aged differently, and many of them award winners. Since 2010, cases and cases of Oregon pinot have been escorted on their way along with Briar Rose’s fresh varieties, in flavors from lemon-dill to chipotle, or by the creamery’s aged cheeses such as Freya’s Wheel, which dazzled the San Francisco Chronicle.
The combination has the makings of an ideal Yamhill Valley picnic–especially one that ends with Briar Rose’s chocolate goat cheese truffles. With these, the experience on the palate is such that you might, for just a fleeting second, contemplate forgoing the wine.
