Red Ridge Farms, a destination for the senses, offers plant shopping, wine and olive oil tasting, plus photo opportunities with the breathtaking views. The recent article, Drifters: Red Ridge Farms, in SIP magazine covers the Red Ridge Farm experience, from the thriving herb and plant nursery to the beautiful views of olive groves, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson and the LIVE certified Durant Vineyards.
“Red Ridge Farms is an enotourism destination unlike any in the Pacific Northwest, perhaps even the country.” – Treve Ring, SIP Northwest
The first Durant family vineyard was planted in 1973, and has since grown to 65 acres of wine-producing vines. After selling their premium fruit for years, the family created the Durant Vineyards label in 2003, which produces approximately 2400 cases of wine annually. The site also includes 15 acres of specialty plants, lavender, and olive groves.
Guests can purchase local cheese, charcuterie, fruit and more at the Red Ridge Store, and enjoy Durant Vineyard wines on the patio overlooking their estate vineyards. In addition to wine tasting, Red Ridge Farms offers olive oil tasting of oils created on-site at the Oregon Olive Mill. Self-guided tastings are available at the store, with educational tours of the olive mill available with reservations. In addition to being Oregon’s only olive oil producer, the Oregon Olive Mill was featured in the Wall Street Journal’s The Best Olive Oils Made in the U.S.
“Forty years ago, the Durant family helped found Oregon’s wine industry in the Willamette Valley. Now Paul Durant is bringing olive oil to the region. After a few seasons of experimenting to see which varieties do best in the colder climate and what agricultural practices help produce the best fruit, Mr. Durant has begun to focus on Tuscan varieties like Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino.” – F. Martin Ramin, The Wall Street Journal
