Dayton Chocolate Crawl
Chocolate lovers can stop and sample decadent desserts at the Second Annual Dayton Chocolate Crawl. Each year, during the month before Valentine’s Day, local merchants in Dayton sell paper hearts to support to local revitalization efforts and help fund programs such as “Dayton Friday Nights” summer parties in the park. Last year, The Dayton Community Development Association decided to conclude the fundraising campaign with special Valentine treats, and by turning downtown businesses in to chocolate shops for a day.
“Those who participated last year enjoyed themselves and asked us to do it again,” said event organizer Kelly Haverkate. “Our goal is to invite folks downtown to see what we’re up to, give them something fun to do on Valentine’s weekend and show them our Dayton hospitality.”
Participating merchants offer unique chocolate treats to all who hold a Chocolate Crawl Passport ($10 available in downtown stores), then fully stamped passports are entered into a drawing for a grand prize. This year’s menu at participating merchants includes:
The Block House Café – Mini Brownie Trifles
Seufert Winery Tasting Room – Chocolate Cinnamon Hearts
Dayton Mercantile – Chocolate Fountain
Archie’s Ice Cream & Eatery – Three selections of Rich Chocolate Ice Cream
Lone Star BBQ – Dark Chocolate Dipped Hand Cut Potato Chips
The Barlow Room- Bacon and Chocolate Bites
Locally Picked – Hand Made Chocolates
Zukasa Mexican Tienda – Carlos V Mexican chocolate & Bubu Lulu Chocolate Candies
